A police corporal attached to the Ajaokuta Division of the Kogi State Police Command has allegedly shot dead a female colleague with whom he was reportedly in a romantic relationship before taking his own life.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 9pm on Friday, October 23, 2026, although the police had yet to officially confirm the deaths as of the time of filing this report.
The officers were identified in an account as Corporal Amos and Woman Corporal Grace.
According to the account, Amos was assigned to night-duty station guard and reportedly resumed work at about 6pm before leaving his post a few hours later.
He allegedly proceeded to Grace’s quarters, where he opened fire on her before turning the weapon on himself with an AK-47 rifle.
The source claimed that Grace sustained gunshot wounds to her shoulder, lower abdomen and leg.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive behind the alleged killings, remained unclear, as the account had not been independently verified.
However, the source attributed the incident to alleged relationship difficulties between the two officers, claiming that they had been experiencing trust issues and accusations of infidelity in recent months.
The account further alleged that their disagreements had escalated into physical confrontations and threats, leading to their detention at some point by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO).
The DCO was said to have advised the officers to end their relationship to prevent further conflict.
Recounting the incident, the source said: “He reported on duty at about 6pm and disappeared few hours later and went straight to Grace’s quarters and murdered her before killing himself also.
“The two junior police officers had been dating for some years now, but few months ago, they started having trust issues and cheating allegations. There had been physical fight and threats to the extent they were detained at some point by the DCO who later advised them to end the love relationship for the sake of peace,” a source revealed.
The source added:”But yesterday, Corporal Amos decided to end it all, by firing three straight bullets on Corporal Grace, one on her shoulder, the second on her lower abdomen and the last on her leg before firing himself. May their souls rest in peace,” the source added.
As of the time of filing this report, the police had not released an official statement confirming the incident.
Further details, including whether the bodies had been formally recovered, the circumstances surrounding the alleged use of the rifle and the events leading up to the incident, were not immediately available.
