Former Bauchi APC women leader Jemimah Dutse murdered in home

Unidentified assailants have brutalised and murdered Mrs. Jemimah Dutse, a former APC Zonal Women Leader for Bauchi South, inside her residence at Muazu New Layout in the Yelwa area of Bauchi metropolis.

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Sunday following a report filed at the ‘E’ Division on October 3, 2026, by a resident of the area. Police detectives dispatched to the scene documented the area before transferring her body to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for autopsy and medical examination.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.

Commiserating with the family, friends, and political associates of the deceased, the command assured the public that no stone would be left unturned in bringing those responsible to justice.

TIB Movement Demands Urgent Action
Reacting to the incident, the Bauchi State Chapter of the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement strongly condemned the killing, describing it as a senseless act of violence that highlights growing security concerns in the state.

In a statement signed by the state coordinator, Nazif Bashi, the group extended condolences to the bereaved family while calling on the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to track down and prosecute the culprits.

”A society where citizens, regardless of their political affiliations, gender, or status, cannot feel safe in their own homes is one on the brink of breakdown,” the statement read. “This killing is an attack on the peace, security, and democratic fabric of Bauchi State. Justice must not only be done; it must be seen to be done.”

The group further urged the Bauchi State Government and security authorities to bolster local surveillance, intelligence gathering, and security operations across the metropolis, while appealing to civil society organizations and residents to demand full accountability.
