The Coalition of Renewed Hope expresses deep shock and sadness over the tragic crash of the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft near Igbokoda, Ondo State, which claimed 32 gallant officers and crew.
We commiserate with the families of the victims, the Nigerian Air Force, the Chief of Air Staff and the entire Armed Forces over this painful loss. These officers died in active service to our dear nation.
We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift and statesmanlike response in declaring a three-day national mourning and ordering a full, transparent investigation into the cause of the crash. This shows a President who feels the pain of his troops and respects the sacrifice of our uniformed men.
Unlike in the past when such tragedies were swept under the carpet, President Tinubu has demonstrated empathy, accountability and leadership. We are confident the investigation will improve safety and prevent future occurrence.
We pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and urge Nigerians to stand with the families at this difficult time.
