Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, has unveiled his manifesto for the presidency of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), outlining a vision focused on unity, professional governance, investment and sustainable development of the sport.

Mustapha, who is seeking to lead the federation, said his agenda would prioritise stronger institutions, vibrant domestic leagues, grassroots development, players’ welfare, as well as the development of coaches and match officials.

He also pledged to pursue sustained success for Nigeria’s national basketball teams through effective administration, strategic partnerships and measurable results.

According to him, Nigerian basketball requires more than promises, stressing the need for a clear strategy and leadership that places the development of the game and the welfare of its stakeholders at the centre of its administration.

He said every basketball talent, from community courts to the international stage, should be given the opportunity to develop and excel.

Mustapha further highlighted the broader potential of basketball to contribute to youth empowerment, social inclusion, national unity and economic opportunities.

He said his administration, if elected, would work towards creating an environment capable of attracting investment, inspiring confidence and building a lasting legacy for Nigerian basketball.

“As I seek this responsibility, my commitment remains clear: to unite the basketball family, strengthen the institution and move Nigerian basketball from potential to podium,” he said.

Mustapha called on stakeholders in the basketball community to support his vision, describing it as a roadmap for a new phase of development in the sport.

“Together, let us ARISE to a new dawn for Nigerian basketball,” he added.
