A Nigerian man living in the United Kingdom has reportedly been cut off by his mother and elder brother following a dispute over a ₦140 million building project he allegedly awarded to another engineer instead of his sibling.
The incident was made public by an X user, @GloriousGod01, who shared details of the alleged family disagreement, which reportedly escalated into the destruction of the building’s foundation.
According to the post, the man had planned to construct a house and initially approached an engineer for a quotation. The engineer reportedly estimated the cost of the project at about ₦140 million, excluding workmanship.
The man later contacted his elder brother, who is also an engineer, to inquire about the cost of handling the project.
Elder Brother Allegedly Quotes ₦150m
The X user claimed that the elder brother quoted ₦150 million for the construction.
When the younger sibling asked about his profit margin, the elder brother reportedly explained that he usually made between ₦10 million and ₦15 million from each project.
However, he allegedly offered to reduce his profit to between ₦3 million and ₦5 million because the contract involved a family member.
The younger brother reportedly accepted the offer, requested his brother’s bank details and transferred ₦3 million to him.
He later decided to award the construction contract to the first engineer instead, explaining that he did not want to mix family relationships with business.
According to the account, the younger man also maintained that the ₦3 million he had transferred represented 60 per cent of the minimum ₦5 million profit his brother had indicated he could make from the project.
Elder Brother Allegedly Invades Site, Destroys Foundation
The decision reportedly angered the elder brother, who allegedly approached their mother to complain after learning that the contract had been awarded to another engineer.
The disagreement reportedly took a more serious turn when the selected engineer arrived at the construction site with his workers to begin the project.
The X user alleged that the elder brother subsequently arrived at the site with a group of thugs and destroyed the foundation.
